Tanghdar delegation meets Home Minister

New Delhi, Feb 16: A delegation from Tangdhar, Tehsil Karnah, led by Hazi Manzoor Ahmed, chairman, ST Action Committee with Nilotpal Basu, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha and Yousuf Tarigami, Member of Legislative Assembly, Jammu and Kashmir, called on the Union Home Minister Shivraj V. Patil here and submitted a petition to him.
The delegation, according to a Press Information Bureau (PIB) handout, reiterated their demand for scheduling of Pahari speaking people of Karnah Tehsil as Scheduled Tribe by the Union Government. The Home Minister assured that their demand is receiving attention of Government of India.
While complimenting the initiatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs in taking prompt relief measures, the delegation also apprised Home Minister about the progress on relief and rehabilitation. The Home Minister assured the delegation that the Government is committed to provide all possible assistance for the rehabilitation of earthquake victims.
