Murder of Islamabad youth, criminals still at large

Srinagar, Feb 19: Three months after the murder of a youth in Islamabad, police is yet to make a breakthrough, or round up the suspects, family of the murdered youth told news agency KNS.
The murdered youth, Nazir Ahmad Mir son of Gul Muhammad of Zudr Mir Islamabad, went missing after he went for shopping on November 13, 2007, three days before he was getting married.
Nazir’s body was recovered from a field at Khanabal. Police registered a case (FIR 27.08) under section 302 and started investigation.
Iftikhar Ahmad, the brother of the deceased, told KNS that a neighbor had threatened Nazir, but police has not arrested anyone.
SHO Islamabad Mir Liyaqat said that investigation into the case has reached an important stage. “If we disclose the details, it might affect the case. Over 50 persons have been detained and questioned in the case so far,” he said.
