Transporters demand fare hike
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Feb 19: The All Kashmir Passenger Minibus Transport Federation today threatened to stop paying taxes to the government should the latter fail to announce immediate fare hike.
In a statement the federation said if the government did not increase the fares the transporters would stop paying taxes.
At a meeting with Sheikh Muhammad Yusuf in chair, the members expressed disappointment over the fact that the government has not hiked passenger fares during the past two years despite repeated assurances to this end. “There has been a considerable increase in the prices of petrol, diesel and other lubricants,” the statement said.
“While the prices of diesel and petrol have been increased many times over past some time the fare has not been increased even once during last two years,” it said.
