GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Feb 19: Expressing concern over deterioration of Dal Lake, the Valley Citizens Council (VCC), on Tuesday accused the Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) of failing to restore its glory.
In a statement, VCC’s general secretary Imdad Saqi, said “despite spending crores of rupees, LAWDA has miserably failed undertake its conservation measures.”
Saqi said the LAWDA has not taken any steps to stop the inflow of city’s drains into Dal, as these drains are choking the lake.
“LAWDA only carries demolition as it attracts attention of media persons. But demolition is not at all a conservation measure for the lake.  Government has to be practical and wind up the LAWDA as it has failed to deliver,” Saqi said.
The VCC has appealed people from all walks of life to contribute in conserving the lake.
