‘Self-Rule is only viable solution of all problems’

Jammu, Aug 16: Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti said that her party has pioneered a political and economic agenda to establish sustainable peace in the sub-continent and to fulfill wishes and aspirations of all regions and sub-regions of the State.
She said it was result of the policies adopted by the PDP that peace has been established in this region.
Addressing a function to welcome activists of BJP, Praja Parishad and Congress who have joined PDP under the leadership of Thakur Suram Singh here today, Mehbooba said that unlike other political parties PDP always come to its commitments and promises.
“Our politics is not for attain power. Aim of our party is to establish lasting peace in this region and restoring dignity and honour of the people of this State”, she said, adding, “reconciliatory policies and peace initiatives initiated during the regime of Mufti Muhammad Sayed are must for restoring peace in this region”.
She asserted that biggest achievements of PDP was that it has created conducive atmosphere for initiating peace process and taking Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) to normalize relations between India and Pakistan. Ms Mufti said that by facilitating the peace and confidence building initiatives PDP has positively transformed the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
PDP president reiterated that the Self-Rule document of the PDP was the only and viable solution for solving all problems of this region. “Wishes and aspirations of all regions and sub-regions have been incorporated in the Self-rule document and only through this proposal both internal and external dimensions of Kashmir problem would be addressed”, she said.
She informed the newly entrants in the party that through Self-Rule PDP want to make Jammu and Kashmir economically self sufficient. “Despite being huge water resources we can utilize it due to some discriminatory treaties and agreements”, she said.
Prominent among those who joined PDP included Akash Gupta, Sunil Kumar, Pawan Sharma and others.
