Minus 15 degrees in Leh

Srinagar: Cold intensified its grip across Jammu and Kashmir, as night temperature dipped by several degrees with Leh in frontier Ladakh reeling at minus 15.0 degree Celsius.
Leh recorded a high of only 0.8 degree Celsius followed by nearby Kargil, where the day and night temperature settled at 1.4 and minus 14.6 degree Celsius, respectively, Met office said.
Winter capital Jammu recorded season’s lowest night temperature of 7.9 degree Celsius but bright sun provided relief, as the day’s temperature shot up to 23.8 degree Celsius.
Srinagar, the summer capital recorded a high of 11.2 and a low of 1.2 degree Celsius, while hill resort of Pahalgam in South Kashmir recorded a low of minus 5.4 degree Celsius. The maximum at the hill resort, 100 kilometres from here was 8.2 degrees Celsius.
