3 forest guards suspended
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Jammu: Three forest guards have been suspended for their alleged failure to check timber smuggling in Udhampur district of Jammu on Thursday.
Mushtaq Ahmed, Shanker Dass and Sachin Gupta were suspended by Divisional Forest Officer, M K Gupta after receiving complaints in connection with the recent seizure of 33 timber logs being smuggled from Ramnagar to Basantgarh range, Forest Ministry officials said.
The action was taken after finding that the accused have “failed” to check smuggling and “facilitating” the illegal activities, sources said.
The DFO has also recommended strong action against the Range officer to the Chief Conservator of Forests, they said.
