Govt releases Rs 73.48 cr for draught, storm hit

Jammu, Dec 22: The government has sanctioned over Rs 70.45 crores to the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department for providing free ration for December and January-February 2010 in favour of the draught affected families. The free ration will be provided at 17.5 kg of wheat and rice each per family per month in respect of Jammu province and in respect of Kashmir province it will be at the rate of 35 kg of rice per family per month. In Jammu division, the ration will be provided in Jammu, Poonch, Samba, Udhampur, Kathua, Reasi, Rajouri, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar while in Kashmir division drought hit families in Islamabad, Bandipora, Kulgam, Kargil, Kupwara, Pulwama, Varmul and Budgam will get it. Under the orders of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, government has also sanctioned over Rs 3.03 crores as relief to the affected families of July 26 storm hit areas in Kupwara.
