Srinagar, Dec 22: The Jammu and Kashmir Joint Consultative Committee, spearheading the employees’ agitation on the implementation of sixth pay commission report Tuesday maintained that the agitation programme after its meeting with the officials representing government was unsuccessful.
The JCC spokesperson, Farooq Ahmad Trali, told Greater Kashmir that the one-hour long meeting with the officials was unsuccessful.
“We have decided to stick to the already given programme. The employees will go for strike on December 23 (Wednesday) and there will be complete lockout of offices on December 30,” he said.
Sources said the JCC leadership was called for negotiations to the civil secretariat in Jammu wherein the government officials tried to motivate them to desist from protesting.
JCC was represented by Abdul Qayoom Wani, Khursheed Alam and others while commissioner secretary finance, Sudhanshu Pandey, commissioner GAD, Basharat Ahmad Dhar, represented the government.
“The representatives of the government in the meeting refused to give any assurances to JCC over the implementation of sixth pay commission recommendations and increase in the retirement age,” sources said.
“They also tried to motivate JCC to defer the protests scheduled for tomorrow but failed,” sources added.
Meanwhile, sources said the government had asked the JCC to restrict its protests in view of the section 144 imposed.
