GK NEWS NETWORK

Jammu, Dec 25: The Governor, N N Vohra, has called for expanding NCC activities in Jammu and Kashmir to enroll a much larger number of boys and girls, particularly from the remote and far-flung areas of Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh regions to provide them adequate opportunities for their future careers.
The Governor said this while addressing a contingent of 92 NCC cadets of Jammu and Kashmir who called on him at Raj Bhavan, here this evening. These cadets, including 32 girls, will represent the State in the Republic Day NCC Camp at New Delhi and shall proceed to the national capital on December 29.
The Governor observed that the NCC is an excellent organization, which inculcates discipline and the spirit of camaraderie and resilience, adding that there is an imperative need for having a significant number of boys and girls enrolled in it, considering the very large strength of youth in our country.
He mentioned that the NCC also provides a wonderful opening for the cadets to join any of the three Defence Services. “We have very impressive men and women cadets in the Senior Division in the J&K NCC who can make excellent officers”, he added.
The Governor presented a cheque for an amount of Rs. 70,000 to the NCC Directorate, J&K, to meet expenditure towards various activities during the Republic Day Camp at Delhi.
Earlier, the officers of the Jammu and Kashmir NCC Directorate were introduced to the Governor.
