Power crisis
It is quite astonishing that notwithstanding the extraordinary potential of our state to generate 16000MW of power, the government still fails to tackle the issue in Kashmir whose demand is just 1300MW. Moreover, the state buys power at Rs2.5 a unit to Rs10 at times from outside, whereas power generated by the Baglihar Power Project is being sold Rs 0.25 a unit. It is sad but true that our legislators don’t dare to raise voice against this naked discrimination only because it may not please New Delhi. Instead of providing relief in winter season our valley is being subjected to frequent power cuts making life of common man more miserable. This is nothing but the courtesy of our so-called veteran politicians.
