Govt plans third party inspection of Dal conservation
Rs 6 crore to be utilized on development: Tara
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Dec 26: The Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, on Saturday said a third party would be asked to review Dal lake conservation measures undertaken by the Lakes and Waterways Development Authority.
“It(third party) could be any government department or a reputed private company,” Tara said, adding the move would further streamline the conservation measures.
An official handout quoting Tara said: “In order to preserve and protect the past glory of the Dal Lake Rs 6 crore are being utilized on different Dal development works during current fiscal.”
Tara was inspecting various Dal development works.
He said Rs 2 crore would be spent on drugging and deweeding while Rs. 4 crore would be expanded on Tow walling and fencing works near foreshore.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to speed up the works and make the use of second machine for drugging adding that additional manpower may also be engaged.
Pertinently, on December 8, the Deputy Chief Minister had pulled up LAWDA for slow pace of work on Dal lake conservation.
Expressing concern over slow pace of work, Tara said the Central Government was liberally funding the project but the LAWDA was working at slow pace.
He “warned that any laxity on the part of any officer/ official in implementing the instructions, directions and guidelines being issued regarding the preservation and conservation of Dal Lake will not be tolerated at any cost.”
The Vice Chancellor LAWDA Irfan Yaseen, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Tufail Matoo and other concerned accompanied the Minister.
