Hyhama road condition troubles people
SHAHID RAFIQ
Kupwara, Dec 26: The people of Jugtyal Hyhama today accused the authorities of failing to fulfill the promise of chief minister, Omar Abdullah about repair of dilapidated road leading to the area.
“Before taking over the reigns of the coalition government, Omar Abdullah visited here during the canvassing in Assembly election and promised to repair the road, if National Conference came to power. But authorities failed to keep his word as work on the non-motorable road, is yet to begin,” the people told Greater Kashmir.
They said they were facing tremendous hardships due to the problem. “The road condition is such that on marriages, the bridegrooms have to walk miles to reach the brides’ house.”
“Successive governments have failed to repair the road,” they said, adding the area had become a mere vote bank for the politicians, who after getting elected to the Assembly ignore the peoples’ hardships.
When contacted, Executive Engineer R&B range Kupwara, Muhammad Sultan Sheikh, said they had issued tenders for the road repairing. “The work on the road will commence shortly,” he assured.
