JK Grameen Bank launches farmers’ club

Jammu, Dec 26: J&K Grameen Bank Mahanpur in Kathua launched a farmer club under the name SIDH Farmers Club at village Nowshera in tehsil Basohli under NABARD assistance farmers club programme.
 The club will arrange hassle free credit for the villagers by maintaining better bank borrower relationship and shall function as a bridge between farmers and bank, an official statement here said.
 The club will also undertake the developmental activities like community works, education, health, environment and natural resources management in the areas and all other activities which are useful to the locality.
 About 60 farmers participated in the inaugural function. All the line department officials present in the meeting assured the club members that requisite support and help shall be provided to the club for development of the villagers.
 DDM, NABARD, Kathua while addressing the gathering informed about NABARD assisted loan schemes for farmers like venture capital dairy, rural goodowns and formation of self help groups. He also advised the farmers to go in for cash crops, horticultural activities in view of the topography of the area and assured to provide maintenance grant and re-imbursement of expenses for various training propgrammes organized by these clubs.
 Area Manager Gramin Bank, while speaking on the occasion disclosed that village Nowshera has been adopted for financial inclusion and bank accounts has been opened of all households and credit facility has been provided to 27 families. The Area Manager informed the gathering that these farmer clubs are formed for creating a suitable climate in the villages for proper use of loans, recycling of funds and bringing about improvements in their day-to-day life.
 The participants of the village were motivated to avail of various credit facilities as per their requirements.
