GK NEWS NETWORK

Jammu, Dec 29: The cabinet sub-committee on the 6th Pay Commission report met here this evening with the Finance Minister, Abdul Rahim Rather, in chair, to discuss the “left-over” demands of the government employees.
“The sub-committee observed that the government had already conceded the employees’ demand for pay hike according to the 6th Pay Commission recommendations, raised daily wages from Rs 70 to Rs 110, formulated a policy to regularize the services of ad-hoc and contractual employees, addressed the demands of pensioners, mitigated the problems of doctors and SRTC employees and taken several other pro-employee measures,” highly placed official sources privy to the meeting told Greater Kashmir, adding it unanimously resolved “to accept the employees’ demands within possible resources.”
“When everything is moving in the right direction, there is no occasion for any strike or resort to agitation which puts the common people to avoidable inconvenience,” they said, adding the sub-committee was likely to meet again tomorrow to continue the discussion on the “left-over” demands.
It may be recalled that the Employees Joint Action Committee has called one-day token strike on December 30 and, taking suo moto action, the cabinet sub-committee held an emergency meeting to discuss the issues of employees, they said.
Present in the meeting were the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ali Muhammad Sagar, the Minister for Industries and Commerce, S S Slathia, the Minister for Education, Peerzada Syed, the Chief Secretary, S S Kapoor, the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Khursheed Ahmed Ganai, the Commissioner / Secretary, General Administration Department, Basharat Ahmad, and other senior officials.
