Revoke PSA

This refers to the Public Safety Act (PSA). The law is unjust. It authorizes the detention of a person merely on a suspicion. The harshness of this act can be understood by the fact that people are detained under it for decades without providing any legal assistance. No remand is required; no information is given and no opportunity of hearing is given to the detainee. The detainee is arbitrarily denied his very fundamental right under article 14 which ensures fairness and equality in treatment. The objective of this Act was the maintenance of public order, but over the years it is being used in a very unfair manner. It is high time that the Act, along with the AFSPA, is revoked in the larger interest of people.
