‘Sheikh Abdullah didn’t die natural death’
Jammu, Dec 4: Former Director Health, Dr Ali Baksh, said Friday Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah’s treatment during his last days was allegedly bungled in that proper diagnosis was jeopardized.
“This was done under a criminal conspiracy at the behest of vested interests and some international agencies,” he claimed.
Addressing a press conference here, Dr Ali Baksh alleged that Dr VP Gupta, the then Medical Superintendent SKIMS, changed Sheikh’s X-Ray taken on the newly installed machine which led to faulty diagnosis and wrong treatment an his eventual demise.
He said the X-Ray was replaced by a normal person’s X-Ray detected later by the famous physician, Dr Ali Jan.
“I was the Director Health Services (1982) and Dr Ali Jan, who was the physician, was misled by Dr Gupta’s changed X-Ray,” he said, alleging some agency, ‘not below the international repute,’ wanted Sheikh’s early demise to create an atmosphere of instability in J&K.
He said he had conducted four inquiries into Dr Gupta’s role and allegedly found his deep involvement in running narco-trade, militant- official nexus, purchase of banned/narco drugs and shielding of Gool-Gulabgarh accident culprits.
“The inquiry reports were submitted to the government with conclusive evidence but no action was taken and the files disappeared mysteriously,” he alleged.
“Some powers were behind Dr Gupta which is why he was acquitted from all charges and appointed as Director Health, Jammu,” he claimed.
Asked why he did not disclose this earlier, Dr Baksh said he was ‘falsely’ implicated in narco-trade case and at that time nobody would have believed him. “Now I am out of all allegations and this, I think, is the high time to disclose when the Sheikh’s grand son, Omar Abdullah, is sitting on the highest post,” he explained.
He urged the Chief Minister to institute an inquiry into Sheikh’s death to ‘expose Dr V P Gupta’s link.’
