Govt appoints standing counsels for Kashmir deptts

Srinagar, Dec 4: The government Friday appointed following three advocates as standing counsels for the departments of Kashmir division in sub-ordinate courts for one year, terminable on a month’s notice. In a government order No. 2457- LD(A) dated December 04, 2009, advocate Syed Sharief-ud-Din Geelani, Ali Muhammad Dar and Manzoor Ahmad Lone have been appointed as standing counsel for UEED, Directorate of Tourism and Chief Conservator of Forests respectively.
Geelani will have the status of Deputy Advocate General while Dar and Lone will have the status of Government Advocates.
In another order, the government appointed 90 advocates as standing counsels for the departments in Kashmir division as shown against each:
