JK players shine in SQAY event

Srinagar, Dec 4: The J&K SQAY martial art players won 16 medals in the recently held 10th Junior National Sqay championship at Indore Madhya Pradesh.
 JK bagged six gold, six silver and four bronze medals in the event in which 21 state teams from all over the country participated. Nusarat bagged gold in 40-kilogram category, Saroj in 40-kilogram Mathol event, Tehrab in Khwanke primary event, Zeeshan in open category while Sibgat in graduate event.
 The silver medals were won by Masarat in 36-kilogram category, Azra in 48-kilogram category, Rashid in 44-kilogram Mathol event, Rouf in 52-kilogram category, Aqib in 48-kilogram category, Ateeb in 56-kilogram category and team of Azra, Humaira and Gousia in Aero SQAY group event.
 Silver medals were won by Gousia in 44-kilogram category, Humaira Feroze in open category and Sheeraj in 60-kilogram category.
 Delhi bagged team championship while JK got second place. Third place was shared by Punjab and Maharstra jointly.
 SQAY is a Kashmiri martial art and initially JK dominated all the national events. But in recent years states like Delhi and Maharastra have been doing well. Though in senior category JK is still dominating but in junior category it has lost place of team champions and in last two events has got second and third place.
 The event was organised by SQAY Federation of India.
