Mian Bashir travels on Mughal Road after 29 yrs

Srinagar, Dec 4: It was after 29 years that prominent Gujjar and spiritual leader, Mian Bashir Ahmad, travelled on the historic Mughal Road today. Last time he had travelled on the road on the horseback in 1980. The difference this time was that he travelled in a car.
 “Mian Sahib had first travelled from his native place Wangath in Kangan to Surankot in Poonch on May 17, 1943. He used to travel on horseback till 1980,” a family friend of Mians told Greater Kashmir.
 “Mian Sahib has special affection with Rajouri and Poonch areas. He took keen interest in the rehabilitation of the people of the area affected by 1947, ’65 and ’71 wars between India and Pakistan,” he added.
 Besides being a spiritual leader, Mian Bashir has a great political following among Gujjar and Bakerwal community. At Pir Ki Gali, he was welcomed by people who had come in more than 150 vehicles from Poonch.
