Model village in each district soon: Sagar

GK NEWS NETWORK

Jammu, Dec 4: The Minister for Rural Development, Panchayats, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Muhammad Sagar has said government was contemplating to construct model villages having the state of art facilities in various places across the State with a revised cost of Rs 3.5 crore.
“In this regard one village from each district would be identified in consultation with local representatives,” Sagar said.
He was  speaking after inaugurating a divisional level awareness camp for self help groups, constituted under Swaranjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojna (SGSY) scheme and organized in connection with the celebration of the birth anniversary of Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah.
Sagar said that the visionary approach of Sher-i-Kashmir can be gauged by the fact that he preached the concept of religious tolerance some seven decades before which has become more relevant today when the society is ridden by religious intolerance and hatred.
While referring to the revolutionary land to the tiller act, Sagar  said that by enacting this law, Sher-i-Kashmir paved way for the economical and social emancipation of the rural peasants who were subjected to exploitative treatment by the feudal land lords. “We should not forget that besides this historical step he also introduced several people friendly measures which have no parallel in the recent history”, he added.
