REZs reject stipend enhancement
BEGIN FAST UNTO DEATH TODAY
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, Dec 4: Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Technocrats Association and Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture United Forum Friday rejected the Chief Minister’s decision to enhance their monthly stipend from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 terming it as a mere joke with the highly qualified youth. The Association and Forum would continue their struggle, observe December 5 as ‘black day’ and start their proposed fast unto death.
Addressing the technocrats appointed temporarily by the Agriculture Department, the United Forum leader, Dr Khursheed Ahmed said around 200 were on a relay hunger strike for the past 19 days demanding regularisation of the services of the appointees but it appeared the government was not serious about their genuine demands.
“With the announcement of stipend increase, the government’s non-serious and ad-hoc approach toward the issue is evident and now we are left with no other option but to carry on with our proposed fast unto death and to observe the birth anniversary of Sher-e-Kashmir as black day,” he said.
