Srinagar, Dec 4: The City police Friday claimed to have busted gangs of car-lifters and drug peddlers by arresting their kingpin from the Pantha Chowk outskirts.
 A police handout said: “The notorious car lifter and narcotic drug smuggler Tafazul Khaleel Wani alias Setha son of Muhammad Khaleel of Bandipora was arrested by Police Station Pantha Chowk during Naka checking at City Gate Pantha Chowk.”
 The Pantha Chowk police also claimed to have arrested two non-local drug peddlers.
 It said Manjeet Kour alias Inderjeet daughter of Mohinder Paul Singh, and Gurnam Singh son of Darshan Singh, residents of Duswa Mukariya, Hoshyarpur Punjab were arrested. 30 Kgs of Fukki was also recovered from their possession.
 “Subsequently some clues were got regarding the presence of one more drug peddler gang operating under Tafazul Khaleel Wani alias Setha son Muhammad Khaleel of Bandipora,” the police said.
 “On November 25 during Naka checking at Pandrethan, a Tata Sumo bearing registration number 8835-JK03 was stopped for checking. During checking,  Haseena wife of Abdul Gani of Sangam was found in possession of one KG Charas.”
 The SDPO, Nehru-Park, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah was leading the police team.
 “The lady during further questioning disclosed that she was associated with Setha’s gang responsible for selling Charas in Srinagar City.”
  Upon her disclosure, police said, four more persons namely Javid Ahmad Ganie Son of Ghulam Muhammad of Batamaloo, Shahid Farooq Kahwaja son of Muhammad Farooq resident of Bandipora, Shabir Ahmad Wani son of Muhammad Abdullah resident of Khag Budgam, Tafazul Khaleel Wani son of Muhammed Khaleel of Nadihal Bandipora, were arrested from Batamallo Bus Stand alongwith two KGs of Charas.
