Govt to establish medical varsity: Chib

Srinagar, Dec 8: The government is seriously considering creation of a medical university to bring all the medical teaching institutions under its purview, the minister for Medical Education, R S Chib told a meeting.
 Chib inspected the under-construction auditorium at Shreen Bagh and directed the officials to complete the pending work.
 He inspected five kanals of land, earmarked for construction of girls’ hostel in Government Dental College for which permission had been granted.
 Earlier, a meeting of College officials was held with Chib in chair to frame promotion policy of teaching faculty as per the directions of Dental Council of India.
 He said the matter would be taken up in the meeting of Task Force, constituted for the purpose, being held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah.
 About new PG courses in the college, He said three new courses including Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery, Conservative Dentistry and Pediodontia were being considered for introduction in the college.
