JSM asks govt to dispense with Durbar Move practice

GK NEWS NETWORK

Jammu: Jammu State Morcha has called upon the government to dispense with the practice of annual Durbar Move practice.
“This smells the autocratic traditions of Maharajas which should not be continued in a democratic system,” Morcha president, Prof Virinder Gupta said and added that the exercise costs huge amount of money which a state like ours with limited financial resources cannot afford.
“Because of the practice, the civil secretariat does not practically function for a period of about one month. The common people of Kashmir region suffer when the civil secretariat shifts to Jammu. Their works, both personal and general are not attended to. Similarly the problems of common people of Jammu are not attended to when the offices are in Srinagar. Both have to wait for a period of six months when the offices move back to the respective summer or winter capital,” he said.
