Omarabad-A decries underdevelopment
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Nov 11: The residents of Omarabad Sector(A), in the City’s Pir Bagh suburb, have complained their area had been “ignored” by the government during the recent months when most other areas witnessed an increased tempo of development.
They said only Sector-A of the colony was being left underdeveloped while as Sector-B where, as per the residents, some “blue-eyed” people live, was getting facelift.
They said Sector B main road was macadamized overnight whereas the older area, Sector B was still in the waiting.
For the past over a decade, the residents of the area have been facing inconvenience due to lack of drainage and macadamized roads.
The two issue, the residents said, have made their lives miserable.
During routine day, billows of dust cover the road while the rains bring worst, they said.
“Waterlogging is a severe problem for us as the area is yet to get any drainage network,” the residents said while pointing towards a waterlogged street.
They fear the winter to be full of inconvenience again.
“Rains and snowfall will compound our problems particularly that of waterlogging,” said the president of the Mohalla Committee.
The residents accused the authorities of staying in slumber during summer when development activities like construction of the drain and macadamizing were taken up.
“Only colonies like ours were ignored otherwise the authorities took up development works elsewhere where blue-eyed people live,” the they said.
They said they many a time approached the authorities but to no avail.
They appealed the MoS Urban Development Nasir Sogami and Divisional Commissioner Naseema Lanker to look into the matter.
