Shun differences

This refers to the news story “Bhat’s proposal fuels dissent” (GK, Nov 9). How unfortunate on part of Prof Bhat that, without consulting Mirwaiz, he has issued such a statement. Let’s be clear on one thing that the mainstream political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have no say in the Kashmir resolution. Earlier the Hurriyat (M) was right when it would criticize the pro-India political parties for playing games with Kashmiris. But after the statement by Prof Bhat, it seems that the differences within the party leaders are of serious nature. These differences are not good for the party and the people of Kashmir. The Hurriyat is already divided. Further division will be disastrous for the Kashmir cause. Therefore it is important for the Hurriyat leaders to sit together and shun differences. Otherwise neither the world, nor India or Kashmiris are going to trust them.
