Srinagar, Nov 14: Taking a strong note of absence from a crucial meeting of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation, the Commissioner, Tufail Ahmed Matoo, on Saturday placed two Executive Engineers of the corporation under suspension, officials said.
They said the City Mayor, Salman Sagar, had called a meeting to review the development works undertaken by the corporation
“Even though all others were present, the duo didn’t turn up,” they said.
The Commissioner immediately shot the suspension orders.
“Pending inquiry into the matter, Executive Engineer, Left Works Division and Executive Engineer, Right Works Division, are hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect. They shall remain attached with the office of Joint Commissioner (Planning) SMC,” reads the order issued vide No 4150 of 2009 dated November 14.
The officials said in the wake of winter, the Mayor had called the meeting to fix deadlines for various works for their completion in time. However, because of the absence of the two officials, it remained inconclusive.
