CRPF bullet wounds youth

Kupwara, Nov 15: A youth was injured when a riffle of a paramilitary CRPF trooper went off “accidentally” in this frontier town on Sunday.      
 “A bullet pieced through the chest of Riyaz Ahmad Sheikh, 22, son of Ghulam Muhammad Sheikh, in Trehgam market this morning,” locals said.
  They said incident took place when the patrolling party of 98 battalion of CRPF was moving in the area.     
 Sheikh was rushed to the district hospital Kupwara from where he was referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment. Incident created panic in the area. Later people took to the streets to protest against the “negligence of troopers.”    
 When contacted the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara, Uttam Chand said, “The service riffle of the CRPF man fell down and went off accidentally.We have registered a case and arrested the trooper.”
