STA being reactivated: Qamar

Jammu, Nov 17: The State Transport Authority (STA) is being reactivated to provide hassle-free and comfortable transport facilities to passengers on all routes in the State, said the Minister for Transport and CAPD, Qamar Ali Akhoon.
He was reviewing the working of the Department at a high level meeting here today.
The Minister directed the authorities that issuance of route permits for passenger vehicles besides driving licenses to unemployed educated youth should be given first priority.
Minister of State for Transport stressed for plying smooth traffic on all routes of the State. He called for intensifying motor vehicle checking and mobilizing squads to check over-loading for ensuring safety of the people. He directed the concerned authorities to identify land in all districts wherever the department needs to construct its accommodation for RTO and ARTO offices.
