6 killed in road mishaps in south Kashmir

Islamabad, Nov 24: Six persons died and more than a dozen were injured in road mishaps at two different places in this South Kashmir district on Tuesday.
Five persons including a woman were killed and 12 injured when a Bus collided with a tipper on Srinagar-Jammu highway near Sangam Bijbehara this morning. Police has arrested the tipper driver and lodged an FIR against him
Eyewitnesses said that the bus (JK03- 2180) on its way from Islamabad to Srinagar collided with a speeding tipper coming from opposite direction near Sangam killing three persons including bus driver on spot and injuring 12 others, some of them critically.
They said that the speedy tipper in an attempt to overtake another vehicle failed to control the speed and hit the passenger bus coming from other side. The police and the locals immediately shifted the injured to SMHS and SKIMS Srinagar for treatment where one of the lady passengers succumbed.
The deceased have been identified as Muhammad Amin Shah of Ranbirpora, Zuhra Begum wife of Habibullah Shah of Chittergul, Ghulam Nabi Bhat of Naibasti Islamabad, Nazir Ahmad Shiekh and driver Ashiq Hussain of Yaripora.
The division officer, police post Sangam G M Dilgeer said police has arrested the erring tipper driver and lodged case against him.
In a separate incident a 12-year-old boy was killed and three others injured when a tractor carrying sand turned turtle in Sofeshali Kokernag here.
