Limited flight operations irk Valley tour operators
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Oct 2: The Valley tour operators today said the low frequency of domestic flights on Srinagar-Delhi-Srinagar route and their operation for limited hours during the day have become problematic for the passengers.
The operators at a meeting under the banner of All Jammu and Kashmir Hajj Umrah Tour Operators Association, said, it was quite disgusting that the domestic air traffic to Kashmir had been rendered meaningless because the flights were operating only for a few hours during the day.
They said: “The domestic flights arrive from Delhi to Srinagar only up to 12 noon and leave from Srinagar International Airport for Delhi up to 2:45 PM. Beyond 2:45 PM no flight operators on the route,” they said.
They said this situation had been causing huge problems for the passengers and more particularly for the business community.
The operators said in other cities in India flights were operating even up to 11 PM and in some cities round the clock. “In Hyderabad and Bangalore the flights operate up to 11 PM and even beyond that, but we don’t know why the civil aviation ministry has problem to allow operation of the flights all through the day between Srinagar-Delhi,” they said.
The meeting, which was chaired by president of the association, Nissar Ahmad Wani, appealed the chief minister and the ministry of civil aviation, government of India, that the operation of the flights from Srinagar-Delhi-Srinagar should be extended at least up to 7 PM daily so that passengers don’t face any difficulty.
They also appealed for removing other difficulties being faced by the passengers at the airport.
