'We will lodge complaint only if players want'

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

Chandigarh, Oct 4: With some Indian players down with food poisoning after eating at a Johannesburg hotel during the Champions Trophy, team manager Anurag Thakur on Saturday said he would lodge a complaint with the organisers only if the concerned players give it in writing.
“As of now, we are not lodging any complaint in this matter but if any player wants he can give the same in writing and we will take up the issue,” Thakur, who along with off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, arrived from Mumbai on Saturday, said.
He said three-four players complained of food poisoning after eating at the hotel, but all have recovered except for Sachin Tendulkar, who missed India’s last group match against West Indies due to the stomach bug.
Tendulkar, who was suffering from weakness after the illness, had also cut his cheek and nearly broke his nose after falling on his face in the team hotel during the Champions Trophy.
Although India disappointed in the tournament, exiting in the first round, Thakur said the team had performed well, even though they failed to taste success in the event.
