Awareness camp on social evils

Kupwara, Oct 4: The Government College of Education started a week-long awareness camp on social evils and dreaded diseases at the Boys’ Higher Secondary School here on Sunday. It is aimed at spreading awareness on AIDS, swine flu and drug addiction.
The principal, College of Education, M A Road, Srinagar, Dr Parveen Pandit, inaugurated the camp attended by CEO Kupwara, H S Bali, teachers, students and volunteers.
Addressing the participants, Dr Parveen underscored the need to make strong efforts in spreading awareness on social evils, which according to her were damaging the composite culture of Kashmir. She expressed serious concern over the extravaganza in marriages and degrading moral values. 
She said the youth were becoming drug addicts and urged volunteers to spread awareness about the menace. She also appealed to the people to take precautions to avoid diseases like AIDS and swine flu. CEO Kupwara and principal boys BHSS Javid Iqbal also spoke on the occasion. The camp held under National Social Service (NSS) will conclude on October 9.
