Simple marriages

Muslim marriages are supposed to be a simple yet graceful occasions. Our beloved prophet (P.B.U.H) emphasized simplicity in marriages so that the poor can afford it too. But unfortunately marriages in Kashmir and particularly the Muslim marriages have become an expensive affair thus giving rise to more social evils and threatening the very social fabric. There is a race for show off. The number of dishes cooked on the occasion has touched an all time high but if one goes by logic, even a completely healthy man cannot digest that all the food items cooked. This affects our health. We need to rise above these social dogmas and make marriages as simple as possible and observe them in accordance with our religious teachings.
