Govt to streamline Municipal Act

Srinagar, Oct 7: Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand has called for strict adherence to the Master Plan and the Municipal Act guidelines adding that in no case scenic beauty and natural landscape of the Pahalgam Tourist Resort should get affected in the garb of development works.
 He said that cement concrete structures in the health resort should be restricted and discouraged optimally.
 Tara Chand said Municipal Act would be further streamlined to make it in tune with the present day requirements and to give more of eviction and demolition powers to the Municipal Committees so that illegal construction and encroachments could be strictly curbed.
