Tengpora for ‘safe’ crossing

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Sept 23: The residents of Tengpora have complained that vehicles plying on the Bypass there often ply on wrong side because the crossing was at a “considerable distance”.
They said vehicles mostly tippers ply on the wrong side for a shortcut to their destination.
This way, they said, movement on the bypass had become risk prone even for pedestrians.
“The other day a schoolboy had a narrow escape when he was about to be hit by a tipper moving on the wrong side,” they said.
“Several minor mishaps occurred in the past but remained unnoticed,” they added.
The residents said traffic policing should be “intensified” on the highway.
The residents appealed the Senior Superintendent of Police Traffic to look into the matter.
“Otherwise we fear the wrong side driving may lead to catastrophe someday,” they said.
