Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki creator returns to her roots

ANJANA SOOD PLANS SERIAL ON VALLEY’S RICH SOCIAL SET-UP AND START AUDITIONS FROM CITY

Srinagar, Sept 7:  She is the brain behind portrayal of centuries-old love and hate relationship between Saas and Bahu on the silverscreen, with a modern touch in TV soaps. She is also the reason for millions of TV viewers across the Country to remain glued to their TV sets.
Meet Anjana Sood, the noted scriptwriter of TRP buster TV serials including Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, Ladoo. She is presently in Valley on a talent hunt mission.
It was more of a home coming for Sood who returned to her roots after a long time.
“I feel proud to hail from Kashmir. I want to do something for my motherland,” Sood told Greater Kashmir on the sidelines of an interaction session organised by ANHAD, an NGO, in the City.
Sood said the migration of Kashmiri Pandits and Punjabis and even Kashmiri Muslims in early ‘90’s, “disturbed the social and cultural set-up in the country”.
“The migration has affected the communal harmony for which Kashmir was known world over. The young generation of migrants have completely lost touch with their roots. They don’t know how their ancestors shared their joys and sorrows,” she said.
Sood said to revive the age-old cultural moorings, she would portray it through her serial.
“I want to use the local talent for the serial to give it touch as real as possible,” she said.
However, she maintained that only challenge was the accent of the local artists.
Sood said she has worked as an artist in Doordarshan and local theatre groups.  Sood first brush with scriptwriting started when she was in 11th standard. Later, she climbed first steps of success while writing first serial Bandhan co-production with noted Bollywood actor, Anupam Kher’s company.
She says her flow of ideas is God’s gift.  “I only imagine and observe and my pen starts to flow.  My urge to closely watch the life of others has helped me to grasp the complex nature and frictions in joint families.
