DGP releases Parakaram medals to 463 policemen

Jammu, Mar 31: The Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda, today said the J&K Police was making contribution in restoring peace in the state adding 898 policemen and officers and 470 SPOs had been killed during last two decades.“It was due to their supreme sacrifice along with other forces and the people that situation has improved,” he said while speaking on the release of Parakaram Padak in favour of 463 policemen and officers of JKP here.
 He said the medals were awarded to those who sustained injuries during the anti-militancy operations adding 528 personnel had, so far, been awarded this medal. Giving details, he said that 295 personnel had been awarded with Parakaram medals in 2001, 146 in 2002, 29 in 2006, 34 in 2008 and 24 in 2009. The medals have been awarded to one DGP, three IsGP, five DIGPs, 13 SSPs, 10 Dy.SPs, 62 NGOs, 434 Head Constables and Constables. 
 He asked the forces to remain on guard and make efforts to bring peace in the state. Khoda asked the forces that while conducting the operations against the militants, they should ensure that the common people do not suffer.
