Education key to Gujjar, Bakerwal upliftment: Dr Farooq

Kathua, Mar 31: Union Minister for Renewal Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah today described the J&K people as epitome of communal harmony, saying, “no divisive force can disturb the harmony of state”.
 Addressing a Gujjar & Bakerwal Conference, Dr Farooq said that because of mobility of the community, they were facing lot of problems adding the Government was aware of these and was trying to improve their quality of life.
 He asked the community to come forward and ensure higher education of their children so that they could excel in administration, corporate sector and politics adding education was the only tool for their betterment.
 Dr. Abdullah referred to schemes of Renewable Energy and said solar lanterns and other devices were beneficial in the areas inhabited by the Gujjars and Bakerwals.
 Speaking on the occasion, Forest Minister, Mian Altaf promised the gathering that their demands for BPL category, ration cards, state subjects would be looked into.
