Tata Indicom donates 7 mobile PCOs

Srinagar, Mar 31: As a part of its corporate social responsibility, Tata Indicom Wednesday donated mobile PCOs to seven physically challenged people at its Boulevard office here.
Speaking on the occasion, Atul Kansal, chief operating officer, J&K circle, Tata Teleservices Ltd, said the initiative was aimed at providing livelihood to physically challenged people in order to make them financially independent and improve the quality of their life.
“We are trying to make these special people financially stable by way of helping them to earn through mobile PCOs that shall enable them to move to suitable locations. To start with, we have identified seven deserving people after been to several places over here,” Kansal said.
“Although many companies are conducting such activities, but identifying right people is a challenge,” he added.
Kansal said the company aimed at making a positive contribution to the society by supporting a wide range of socio-economic, educational and health initiatives. “We have constantly been organizing such activities in the interest of the general public,” he said.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kashmir range, Hemant Kumar Lohia, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said it was a must to pay back to the society “what we are earning from it.”
“While moving ahead, we should not forget to take the society along,” he said.
Appreciating the initiative of Tata Teleservices Ltd, he said if such activities were regularly carried out, “the day is not far when every individual would lead a happy life.”
“There are many deserving people in the society and everybody of us should join hands to help them out,” he said.
