Police busts car lifters gang, 1 held

Jammu: Police on Friday claimed to have busted a gang of car lifters by arresting a man from New Delhi.
According to police on July 1, last year four tourists hired an Innova (JK14-B-0984) at Jammu for Amar Nath Yatra and on return stooped at Patnitop. During dinner these tourists allegedly mixed intoxicating drugs in the drinking water of the vehicle driver Suram Singh of Nagrota, who after consuming it fell unconsciousness, the police said.
The tourists fled away from the spot along with the vehicle, they said adding a case was registered and investigation taken up.
“During investigation, it was learnt that one of the tourist had used his ATM card at Nagrota and Katra. After proper correlation of the withdrawals at two different locations, the details of the ownership along with his address were obtained,” police said adding Ram Kumar Gupta son of Rajinder Kumar Gupta of Marina Madhya Pradesh was arrested from New Delhi and the stolen vehicle was recovered.
Police said the three persons Ram Barose alias Fouji alias Ravi Kumar son of Guvardhan of Chatarbal Bind, Raju alias Bagirath son of Nathi Lal of Rajpura Bhagia, Agra UP and Saroj Chouhan wife of Gajinder Chouhan of Vihar Balajipuram Agra were still absconding and efforts were on to trace them.
