Hashim condemns Shah’s re-arrest

Srinagar: The Democratic Liberation Party chairman Hashim Qureshi has strongly condemned the re-arrest of Shabir Ahmad Shah, terming it undemocratic.
 Hashim, according to Party statement, said the state government was re-arresting the detainees for the past 20 years despite court orders for their release. He expressed serious concern over Shah’s falling health. He has urged the International human rights organization to take cognizance of detainees’ plight and exert pressure on government to release them.
 Meanwhile, Hashim has condemned the police action against protesting employees, terming it unjustified. He has asked the employees to ensure that essential services are not affected in any way. He said the best way for employees was to press demands by holding dharna periodically instead of going on long strikes.
 Hashim has felicitated the Sikh community on Basakhi.
