Team checks on-spot pesticide samples

Srinagar, Apr 11: Director Law Enforcement J&K Vinod Bala Sharma inspected various business establishments of distributors/Principal dealers/retail outlets in District Ganderbal, Pulwama, Shopian and Varmul. Sharma along with staff of the enforcement agency had on spot sampling of various pesticides, insecticides so as to ensure distribution of quality products to the orchard owners for spray purposes.
In Varmul the enforcement agency stopped the sale of 80 litres of expired Hexahit (Hexaconzole) and seized 17 liters of Mancozeb- 30 per cent SC Batch No. TW-001 from Bhat Pesticides, Sopur and action under relevant act has been initiated against defaulting dealer. Number of samples have been drawn from the dealers of Pesticides and have been sent for evaluating standards/brands to various notified laboratories, a statement here said.
Director Law Enforcement directed the dealers for displaying the licences, rate lists. He asked them to adhere to Insecticides Act 1968 and Fertilizer Control Order 1985 Strictly otherwise action under rules will be initiated against defaulting Dealers.
Meanwhile Director Law Enforcement advised the farming community to use only quality inputs viz. seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, which may be purchased from authorized dealers/distributors against proper cash receipt.
