Unjust move
This refers to the article titled "A justified action against an unjust Government" (GK Op-ed 09-04-2010) by Prof. Muhammad Aslam. The author has constructively criticized the government on various issues. The Government cannot suppress the 4.5 lakh employees’ demands by invoking the ESMA. It should pay the arrears of the 6th Pay Commission to the state employees rather than invoking ESMA which only worsens the situation. The article also reflected that Government surrendered Rs 5500 crores under different heads this year as the same got lapsed. Why is the Government then crying that it has no funds for the arrears, and has to seek the help from Centre? The Government should have invested this huge amount to pay the arrears of Rs 4200 crores.
