Handwara Apr 12: After Army arrested three youth in Magam area of Handwara in this frontier district this week dubbing them as militants, police is investigating the fake militant angle in the arrests.
Police sources told Greater Kashmir that the three youth of Magam, Handwara picked up by the army were innocent and had no connection with militancy and during initial investigation it has come to fore that they were asked to pose as militants on the pretext of providing them money by two brothers of adjoining village who work as informers with 6 Rashtriya Rifles.
Sources privy to investigations told Greater Kashmir that during preliminary investigation, it has been revealed that the three youth Bilal Ahmad Wani, Imran Ahmad Wani and Mohammad Ashraf Gojri of Warpora Magam were lured by the Army informers to pose as militants.
“They were taken into custody by the Army on Wednesday at Batpora after they boarded a sumo alongwith one of the informers Handwara town,” they further revealed.
“After the families of three youth went to informer’s house blaming them for arresting youth on same day, the very next day one of the informers appeared in the Magam market with two grenades in full public glare posing as militant,” they said adding that he lifted the Pheran in front of police post Magam showing the grenades.
“The police arrested the informer posing as militant near police post Magam,” they further said.
Despite repeated attempts none of the police and Army officials commented on the matter.
