‘Govt committed to provide best medicare’

Srinagar, Apr 14: The Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, R.S. Chib today said that government was committed to provide best possible medicare to the patients of the state.
 Addressing reporters at the Government Dental College here Chib said that most of the doctors and para-medics did a tremendous job during employees strike and also persuaded many others to resume their duties in the larger interest of medicare to ailing humanity.
 He also expressed gratitude to the media for giving significant coverage to the steps taken by the government during strike days. He said that the employees called off their strike of their own, saying it is a welcome step as wisdom prevailed finally.
 “It is the endeavour of the government to improve the infrastructure of health institutions, provide adequate medicines, ensure best sanitation facilities in and around the hospitals,” the Minister said adding to provide more staff, 4100 posts have been created and will be filled up soon.
 Tendering an apology to patients who were put to inconvenience during the strike, Chib said that government managed the services with the cooperation of several dedicated employees and voluntary agencies.
 Earlier, the Minister visited several hospitals of the Srinagar city including Chest Disease Hospital, Psychiatric Hospital and Government Dental College and Hospital, Srinagar. He interacted with the patients of these hospitals and enquired about the facilities being provided to them by the government.
 He inspected new OPD block in CD Hospital, constructed at a cost of Rs. 2 crore, one for attendants and other for residential facilities of doctors. He said that within a month, these complexes will be inaugurated.
            Later, Chib presided over a meeting of officers of Associated Hospitals and the matters related to strengthening the health institutions were discussed. The officers apprised the Minister about the problems confronting them in running these institutions.
            The Minister was accompanied by Principal GMC, Dr. Shahida Mir, Principal GDC, Dr. R. Farooq, HOD, B&J Hospital, Dr. Muhammad Ramzan, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Munir Masoodi, Medical Superintendent, SMHS, Dr. Waseem Qureshi and officers of other Hospitals of Srinagar.
