Driving Test
I was amazed to see the driving test conducted by the RTO Srinagar on a recent visit to Kashmir. There was one person conducting the test and all you had to do was to pass your car through a series of equally distanced poles and if you were successful in achieving this feat. Voila! Guess what you get a driving license, an official ticket to drive anywhere in India. The fault with this system is the system itself, whereas in any developed or developing country in order to get a driving license you need to learn about the road first, the highway code, the speed limits, parking turns, safety of the pedestrians who are walking on the road and then an examiner from the license authorities accompanies you, judges you on the actual driving of the car checks all these things above and if you do them correctly you get a license which in turn reduces the risks of accidents. Srinagar where car accidents are at large with people being ran over, cars being rammed into the trees and all the mishaps happening the only authority to blame is the RTO not the people, not the cars.
