Niagara Falls reminded me of my own Aharbal
Visiting Niagara Falls with heavenly mist around water vapours trickling here and there adding to the pristine climate of the area, was a treat to my eyes. Connecting Canada with America, two Falls with a drop of 53m and 30m were created geologically by Wisconson Glacier. Niagara is the largest electricity producer in Western world with generating capacity of 4.4MK. It is a huge tourist attraction world over and as many as 28 millions visit the place. Falls are illuminated on both sides of countries providing huge recreational, commercial and industrial activity. Hotels, lodges, campsites, ship and helicopter besides restaurants and shops are busy with merchandise and souvenirs of sorts. This place glorifies international understanding of peace, harmony and universal brotherhood. Returning back and recapitulating, Kashmir’s Aharbal falls—76 kms from Srinagar—echoed in my mind if we can make a mini replica of peace and understanding at least initially between two regions (Kashmir/Jammu) followed by two countries (India/Pakistan) ultimately leading to universal tourist traffic through Mughal road. Aharbal with two falls of 24.4m and 7m encircled with lush green forests has a potential to generate at least 100 MW power. Both India and Pakistan reeling currently over 40c temperature should visit the site for personnel rejuvenation besides promoting peace and international harmony.
