Budshah Hotel to be reconstructed

Srinagar, Apr 18: The Government has decided to reconstruct the Budshah Hotel at a cost of Rs. 3.50 crore which was gutted in a devastating fire incident in 1984. The hotel is being reconstructed after a gap of 26 years by JKTDC and would be completed within three months 
 This, according to an official statement, was disclosed during the inspection of site by Minister of State for Tourism,   Nasir Aslam Wani, here this morning. The Minster was accompanied by Director Tourism, Kashmir, DDC Srinagar, General Manger JKTDC and chief architect   Munnier Khan.
 During the inspection, The Minister was informed that after the reconstruction in its original design food courts and Kashmiri handloom and handicrafts shall be displayed at the hotel.  The reconstruction of Budshah Hotel would add the beautification plan of Lal Chowk already started by Tourism department at a cost of Rs 2 crore and added that it was the prime demand of the trader’s community, the minister said.
 The Minister was briefed by Director Tourism and Chief Architect about the beautification plan for Lal Chowk, development of park, Ghanta Ghar and its surroundings and directed the executing agencies to speed up the work to complete it within prescribed time. The Minister said that the completion of this prestigious project will help in preserving the pristine glory of Lal Chowk and its hustle and bustle.
 The traders of Lal Chowk also met the Minister and put forth their demands. The Minister assured the traders that all the genuine demands would be looked in a phased manner.
